It Plays Along
It looks like a miniature. A diorama. A world set in a box with impossible green hills, a light dusting of snow on the horizon, cotton candy clouds.
But it’s real. It’s Brownlee Loop Road, going up, up and out of Gardena. Another of the many, many dirt roads peeling off our highways around here.
Brownlee Creek runs across the bottom of the frame, draining the snow and rain from these hills into the Payette. The water from that creek carved this valley, and supports life in it.
We pretend to have power over it and it plays along, until it doesn’t.
